book #4 - and two WTF's

I'm so not sure my current book was money spent in a good way... It's Mari Mancusi's Stake That and so far I've had two scenes that made me want to shout WTF!

Scene #1:
Once in every generation, a girl is born, whose destiny is to hunt vampires."
(roughly translated by sleep-deprived me)

WTF #1:
Every generation, there is one slayer? Hello? Buffy anyone? Copy that one pretty nice, I think!

Scene #2:
When you were born, an employee of Slayer Inc, who worked at the Mercy Hospital, injected you a sleeping nano virus. If you refuse to fulfil your destiny, you will die a painful death, I'm afraid.
(again, roughly translated by sleep-deprived me)

WTF #2:
A sleeping nano virus? Who are you kidding anyway?

Now, would you continue reading or would you grab another book?

  1. I'd think about a new book and save this one for when I wasn't quite so tired!

  2. hang in there!! only a couple of hours left!! you are doing great!

i'd probably keep reading the buffy ripoff out of curiosity. but if i kept having WTF moments, i'd put it down.

  3. LOL--wish I had some WTF moments in my books. Maybe then I'd still be reading instead of blathering away on the internets. :)

    Anyway, here's my cheer!
    I know you're tired
    And losin' the fire
    You'd rather be sleeping
    But keep on reading!!

  4. Nothing like WTF moments in books. Sometimes they are artful and allusionyish (and yes that's a word when you've been up this long); other times they are just blatant copies. Happy Reading!

  6. Thanks so much for the advice! I (apparently, if you read newer blog posts) decided to ditch the book and chose The Uncommon Reader. It was the right decision and I had so much fun reading it!

The two WTF moments within the first 16 or 17 pages were too much for me at that time.
